There is no age when you know everything you need to know to be a girl or a person or a woman. Our goal is to give girls tools they can use for the rest of their lives

Girl Group is ongoing and meets once a week. Currently, the group is divided into 7-9 year old and 10-14 year olds.

We structure each session around a theme and try to provide an action component, a writing component and a discussion component. Each session begins with a ritual to land us in the space and we weave mindfulness techniques throughout the entire session.

Weekly workshops are offered at our location.  Workshops can be tailored for school visits, conference presentations and after school programs.

Meditation In Action Training

September 24, 2017 - 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

In this workshop, we'll playfully explore how an awareness of the five sense can ground us in time and space, helping us be present. Breathing, mindful eating, moving meditations plus cultivating an awareness of sounds, colors, and touch are powerful tools for reducing anxiety and managing emotions. Partipicants will leave with options on how to apply meditation to their daily life with tools for quieting their minds and bodies.

Team Player Training
October 8, 2017 - 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

How can we as individuals bring our full selves to a team? What does it mean to cooperate? Are you a leader or a follower? We’ll be pondering the variable answers to these questions in this workshop for boys. We’ll look at the male myth of the hero and how we can be flexible in our definitions of power and find strength in kindness, compassion and silence.

I Won't Give Up Training

October 22, 2017 - 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

“When all else fails,” says poet Jane Hirshfield, “Fail boldly.” In this action based workshop, we’ll explore ways to keep moving forward even when the world seems filled with obstacles. Through role playing, theatre games and conversation, boys will explore tools to help them remain in the game no matter the outcome.

The Puberty Talk
November 5, 2017 - 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

Girl Group is happy to partner with Shannon Skov for a talk on puberty and sexuality. Girls are welcome to a frank discussion of what to expect from their bodies and minds as they transition from child to teen. Shannon received a Masters degree in Applied Womens Studies from Claremont Graduate University and has worked as a sex-educator for Planned Parenthood and LAUSD. Approachable and pragmatic, Shannon ventures with lighthearted ease into what can sometimes be an awkward topic for our girls. “It’s natural,” she says. “All part of the process.”
